The Camino de Santiago is not just one route, but an extensive network of pilgrimage routes that crisscross Europe and lead to the shrine of Saint James in Santiago de Compostela in northwestern Spain. Each route offers something different: coastal paths, mountain paths, Roman roads, vineyards, bustling cities and sleepy villages.
For more than 1,000 years, pilgrims have been traveling these routes to the magnificent cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia, which is believed to be the resting place of Saint James the Apostle. The Camino, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a vibrant crossroads of cultures, bringing together walkers, cyclists and dreamers from all over the world. Today, the Camino de Santiago is no longer just a pilgrimage; it is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that offers a unique and unforgettable adventure.
Our member of the association is also one of those who has embarked on this unique journey.
A diary of two Caminos walked is currently being written, which will be published soon.
